Taking the words from Beatrice Warde's 1930 essay "The Crystal Goblet," I reworked the essay text to write and design a poem that acts as a narrative reflective of the male gaze during this era, yet reveals an empowering message. The text is paired with imagery found from archives of conservative fashion from the 1930's to depict how women were deemed "invisible" during this time in history.
